AMBASSADOR’S VIEW
CHINA’S REQUESTS TO CONFERENCE. ONLY NEEDS MUNITIONS. Received Oct. 10, 8.40 p.m. WASHINGTAON, Oct. 9. Emphasising that he was giving his personal opinion, the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Wang, in an interview, said: “I expect China to ask the NinePower Conferenc to apply economic sanctions against Japan and supply munitions to China.” He continued: “China is fighting the battle of all ce-loving democracies. We are not seeking military intervention. Concerted action by other nations is the most important factor. Japan wauld be unable to prevent munitions from reaching China be-
cause she would not care to interfere with foreign shipping if such action meant war again:. the whole world. China has men capable of resisting the invaders and she lacks only munitions.”
