TO ASSIST INSURGENTS ITALIAN PLANS IN SPAIN EFFORT TO GAIN EARLY MAJOR VICTORY {By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Oct. 10, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 8. The Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent says that pending receipt of the Italian reply, which is expected to-morrow, England and France are not disposed to discuss hypothetically what may he the situation next week. Meanwhile, there are strong indications that Italy is determined to make a renewed effort to assist the insurgents to gain a major victory at the earliest moment. Whitehall has not yet received positive information regarding the landings of large forces of Italians' in Spain, but it is known that large quantities of material are being delivered to General Franco’s armies. ITALIAN ALLEGATIONS INTERVENTION IN SPAIN Received Oct. 10, 9.30 p.m. ROME, Oct. 10. The Italian publicist, Dr. Virglnio, in a six-column editorial, using secret service reports, declares that Russian and French intervention recently has been intensified in Spain. He alleges that 8898 volunteers arrived from France in July and August and 600 to 700 tons of war material is passing over the French frontier daily. A Russian brigade arrived on September 18. Dr. Gayda asserts that Greek contrabandists have formed into companies in London and use the British flag. The article contains a list and description of 154 steamers of various nationalities habitually running munitions from Marseilles to Spanish Government ports. FRENCH REPLY LEGITIMATE TRADING 'VITAL INTERESTS THREATENED” Received Oct. 10, 9.50 p.m. PARIS, Oct.' 10. M. Delbos denied Signor Gayda’s alegations, adding: “The French supplies to Spain are all legitimate and are not excluded under the non-inter-vention ruling. France has no preference for any ideology. If it were solely a Spanish question we would stand aside, but France's vital interests are threatened."
