THREE LIVES SAVED
PLUCKY MAORI BOY KEEPS THREE CHILDREN ' AFLOAT MISHAP TO SCHOOL BOAT [ Per Press Association.J ROTORUA, Sept. 9. Three Maori children. Wi Hoau. Make Kingi, and Tuku Hun, all aged 6, were rescued from drowning this morning by an older companion, Peti Hunu, aged 13, when a small boat in which they were crossing Lake Roto- | iti on the way to school, suddenly I sank. Showing the greatest tenacity and resource, Peti kept the three younger children, who were ail unable to swim, afloat until two canoes were paddled to their assistance. The boat was well out in the lake and in very deep water when the accident occurred. None of the four was much the worse for the experience, although all were suffering from shock.
