HOCKEY CHAMPIONS
AUSTRALIAN TITLE TOl RN'EY AT SYDNEY Received Aug. 6. 11.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 6. The men's hockey championship of Australia began on the Sports Ground (Sydney) to-day in Ideal weather. Ten teams, representing all the States and New Zealand, are taking part. The visiting teams, including the New Zealanders, were given a civic reception this morning. New Zealand's first game will be against New South Wales to-morrow. To-day's matches resulted: —Tasmania drew with Western Australia 2 all; Queensland defeated Victoria, 4 to 1; New South Wales defeated South Australia, 4 to 0-
