HIDING OF THE MACE INEFFECTIVE PROCEDURE LONDON, Aug. 5. Under the impression that he would stop business, Councillor Taylor, at a meeting of the Glasgow City Council, during a heated debate, adopted the Cromwellian device, seized the mace and hid it in the banqueting hall, but the Lord Provost ruled that business would proceed.
