WANGANUI ASSOCIATION MANAWATU TOURNAMENT REPRESENTATIVES TO-DAY Owing to the Wanganui Basketball Association's first and second grade representatives being engaged in the Manawatu tournament at Palmerston North to-day, there will not be any local games. Teams from Napier, Levin, Bush, Manawatu and Wanganui will be competing at Palmerston North today. This tournament will be a good try-out for the first grade representatives, who will shortly attend the New Zealand tournament in Auck land. The following will represent Wanganui to-day:— First Grade. Forwards: J. Glasgow (Technical Old Girls), vice-captain, J. McFarland (Tecnnical Old Girls), E. Rountree (Glencoe), and R. Robertson (Y.M. Gym.). Centres: D. Garth (Y.M. Gym.), captain; T. Croker (Nga Toa), R. Granville (Technical Ola Girls; and B. Goldsbury (Technical College). Defence: R. Rosemergy (Nga Toa), B. Gowan (Technical Old Girls), D. Underwood (Y.M. Gym.), and E. Sanderson (Technical Old Girls). Second Grade. Forwards: N. Hodge (Kia Ora), M. Attwell (Kia Ora), and A. May (Marian). Centres: M. Down (Nga Toa), V. Howells (Technical Old Girls), and W. Molan (Marian). Defence: E. Longstaff (Kia Ora), P. Williams (Nga Toa), E. Scott (Technical Old Girls), and H. Gould (McKenzie's). Association Meeting. A full attendance of delegates was present on Tuesday night at the monthly meeting. Senior Grade Competition.—lt was decided to close the senior championship at the end of the third round. Seven-a-side Shield—A seven-a-side tournament will be held on Saturady, August 28. Financial Efforts. A vote of thanks was passed to the various clubs for the wonderful financial support given the association. Basketball Concert. Appreciation was expressed to Miss J. Glasgow, who has organised a concert in aid of the representative team’s travelling expenses. The concert will take place in the Technical College Assembly Hall on Wednesday next, and the support of all players is invited.

By-law Committee. A committee was elected to frame a set of by-laws for the local association. The following were elected: Misses T. Croker, B. Stokes, D. Garth, J. Glasgow, and Mr R Francis.
