Mr TValter Horrobin has been appointed Government representative on the New Zealand Poultry Board, according to an announcement in last night’s Gazette. Mr James McKencher McDonald has been appointed a member of the Dairy Factory Managers’ Registration Board in succession to Mr P. C. H. Petersen, who resigned, according to a Gazette notice last night. The appointment of Messrs E. M. Hunt and C. C. Nash as members of the Tobacco Board, replacing Messrs Gerhard Hi«sheer and Rupert Barkley Smith, who resigned as representatives of the manufacturers, was announced in last night’s Gazette. Mr W. A. C. Pullar, the one-mile flat champion of New Zealand, was married yesterday to Miss B. J. Kingsland, of Christchurch. Mr Pullar has a notable record in athletics in New Zealand. He was recently crosscountry champion and the Dominion’s 440-yards hurdles champion. He was one of the New Zealand cross-country team which visited Australia in 1935, when he ran second to Sheaves and was the first New Zealander home in that big event. The following appointment, to the Engineers’ Registration Board have been gazetted: Messrs F. W. Furkert (Wellington), F. T. M. Kissel, Public Works Department; S. A. R. Mair, Hunterville (Rangitikei County); F. W. Macleon, Wellington; M. Cable, Wellington, and D. K. Blair, Wellington. The last three were recommended by the Council of the . Zealand Society of Civil Engineers. The appointments are for a further period of three years from April 1 this year. Constable C. J. Bissett, of Wanganui, who has been transferred to Taumarunui, left last night to take over his new post. He was met by his colleagues at the Central Police Station yesterday afternoon, and was made presentations on behalf of himself, his wife, and child. Inspector J. Lander expressed his high regard for Constable Bissett’s work and devotion to duty, and wished him well in his new post, which the speaker was glad was still within the Wanganui police district. Senior-Sergeant L. R Capp, Detective-Sergeant J. K. Robertson, Constables P. McEntee, H. L. Smith, and G. Howes all spoke in tribute to the guest and extended him good wishes for the future. Constable Bissett suitably replied.
