SOCCER
WANGANUI ASSOCIATION CLP COMPETITION To-morrow's senior soccer matches will commence the first of a three--ound competition for the Association Cup. The Athletic team was able to win the shield by making a good start early in the season, but the other teams are now in form and will be making a strong bid for the honours. Chief interest will centre in the clash between Eastbrooke and Athletic on Cook's Gardens, as each had a win at the expense of the other in the last competition. The match on the Hill should also raise some interest, as the meeting of Thistle and Rangers is usually of incident. That the visit of the English team to Wanganui next Wednesday is evoking the greatest interest among the general public, is evidenced by the . increasing patronage being accorded the club and representative matches. The members of the English team realise that the great purpose of their visit is to show the New Zealand public soccer football as it is played by the best teams in England, and in their matches to date have done so. The Wanganui public can look forward to a scintillating display on Cook’s Gardens next Wednesday. The local junior players continue to play football of high .standard and many who have lost touch with this grade for the past two seasons must have been agreeably surprised with the display given against the Taranaki boys on Wednesday last. Fixtures for to-morrow are:— Seniors, 2.45 p.m.—Athletic v. Eastbrooke on Cook's Gardens; Rangers v. Thistle on Victoria Park. Juniors. 1.30 p.m.—Marist v. Technical on Cook's Gardens; Rangers v.
