HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME

MEDICAL MEN SYMPATHETIC. REPORT NOT YET CONSIDERED. [ Ter Press Association. J DUNEDIN, June 9. Interviewed regarding the health insurance scheme, Dr. McMillan, chairman of the Government's special committee, stated that its report had not been considered either by Cabinet or party so that no authoritative statement could be made. “Those responsible for the scheme's finance will be interested in a statement on behalf ,of the profession that they consider a capitation fee of £1 to be 50 per cent, too high,” he said. “During the last few months one has met practically all the North Island doctors and a large proportion in the South Island. Everywhere one has found them openminded and very sympathetic towards the principle of health insurance.” Dr. McMillan added that doubtless, a common-sense majority of the profession would cause them to delay until such t'me as they know what the Government's proposals were. Jockey Injured. Ashley Jenkins, rider ot Hunting Queen in the June Hurdles at the Wanganui Jockey Club's meeting yesterday, suffered a fractured shoulder-blade and leg injuries when his mount fell after going about a mile.
