It was explained by Mr King that there was no intention to engage in bulk buying, as it was generally understood, but rather to arrange for bulk distributor! and packing or various standard lines. Nor was there any intention of concentrating in the purchases of one manufacturing company. Briefly, the idea was to get prices for the supply and packing of various lines ana to Except tnose offering the best advantages, both in price and quality. A concern entrusted with the supply of a particular line would be required to pack it, possibly under the trade mark of the Gilseal Company. Such packed lines would carry to the public a guarantee of quality. Buying would be very much on the system pursued by various chain stores. The directors of the company were selected as the executive officers of the guild, and they would hold shares on behalf of the guild. If it were desired to extend the activites of the company at any time capital could be increased.
