COMPENSATING PRICE
Sir,--Many farmers now favour the idea of asking the Government to pay compensating prices to producers for their produce to reimburse them for lhe higher overhead charges due to recent legislation. If we stop to ask ourselves where the Government would get the money to do this, <ve sec that the money would only ho available from (a) excessive taxation or (b) printing paper money, as Germany did after the war. Neither of these ways would be acceptable but I have now found the answer to the question “Where would the money come from?” This has carried great weight because the complete and mystifying ooscurity which has surrounded the origin of modern money has made the public sceptical of any simple definition. This problem, however, has now pased away. We have in power a political party which knows where money comes from. Il
