General Situation.—A deep westerly depression extends acrAdtx lhe South Tasman Sea on to the Dominion, while pressure is relatively high to the north. Forecast—Winds: Moderate to strong north-westerly to westerly reaching gale force at times south of kawhia and Napier, backing later in places to south-westerly. Seas (New Zealand waters’: Rough south of Kawhia and Xout Cook and Foveaux Straits and rising north of Kawhia; e’/jwhere slight to moderate in coastal waters. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong winds between north-west and west, of gale force at times, backing later to south-westerlies; seas rough. Weather.—Fair at first in eastern coastal areas, but otherwise squally and changeable, with intermittent rain and some heavy falls in districts with a westerly aspect; thunder and hail probable in places.
