RUGBY MATCH FOR TAIHAPE TO-MORROW’S FIXTURE The Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby representatives will journey to Taihape to-morrow to defend the Pownall Trophy against a strong Taihape fifteen. Only one change has been made in the Wanganui team since it was selected last Saturday. D. Valentine (T. 0.8. reserve back, is unable tc make the trip and his place will be taken by W. Hoy (T. 0.8. Otherwise the team is intact. A training run was indulged in last night and it looks as though the match will be one of the best of the season. The Wanganui team, under the management of Mr H. Whiting, sole i selector, will leave Martin and Vernon’s garage, Taupo Quay, sharp at 7.30 to-morrow morning. Players are requested to bring their own shorts and boots. Particular interest attaches to this match at Taihape as it will be witnessed by the major union’s selectors prior to selecting the Wanganui team to play Manawatu at Wanganui on Wednesday morning next. Wanganui has the prospect of a very fair representative side this year and the selection will be awaited with interest.
