YACHT HAILS LINER

PHYSICIAN SAVES NOTED BANKER’S LIFE Received May 28. 9.5 p.m. NEW* YORK, May 28. Friends of George F. Baker, the noted banker, said his life was saved when his yacht, Viking, hailed the Niagara and the liner’s physician performed a peritonitis operation. The patient's condition is satisfactory. TURN FOR THE WORSE. Received May 28, 11.5 p.m. NEW YORK, May 28. A turn for the worse later occurred and a coastguard cutter at Honolulu was ordered to rush medical supplies to the Viking, which afterwards also asked for blood donors, indicating that transfusions were necessary, but the cutter had already left. A naval aeroplane was therefore ordered to carry serum to the Viking to be used instead.
