An elaborate threetier cake has been donated by Mrs Bates as the prizes for a competition to be run in conjunction with the ball, and from the interest already shown there is no doubt that the cake, which, incidentally, is on show at the D.1.C., will be the means of materially augmenting the funds of the society.
