STANLEY McKAY’S “GAIETIES”

VAUDEVILLE AND REVUE. Vaudeville and revue with funny comedians, clever dancers, brilliant instrumentalists and singers, thrilling acrobats, beautiful dressing and the latest in staging are to be presented by Stanley McKay’s “Gaieties” Company at the Opera House, the season commencing on Wednesday next, May 5. It is just a year since a company under the direction of Mr. McKay has appeared in our city, but playgoers will remember with .pleasure the excellent entertainments he provided. Since then an entirely new company has been formed, which, according to the Press of New Zealand’s leading cities, is bigger, brighter and better than ever. The leading comedian is Mr. Joe Lawman, who has made a big reputation in Australia, which has been fully sustained on the New Zealand tour. He and Miss Stella Lamond, the “Personality Girl," with their quick-fire cross-patter l

sketches, have become most popular, and should appeal strongly to theatre goers. Others prominent in the large cast are Elton Black, Scottish comedian, Kath Howarde, who has the leading roles in many charming song scenes, Geo. Corelli, character actor, Elvy Ferguson, solo violinist, Harry Hemming baritone, Heather Wright, eccentric dancer, the Hilo Duo, Geo. and Wehi Greig, Hawaiian entertainers, and the seven Flying Martinettes. whose thrilling acrobatic work has never been equalled in New Zealand or Australia. The opening revue is “Some Show,’’ and there are to be frequent changes of scene during the season. Plans are to open to-day at Dobbs’ Music Shop.
