Victim In Serious Condition ACCUSED BEFORE COURT HEAVY BAIL FIXED [ Per Press Association, j AUCKLAND, March 23. “A man alleged to have been assaulted on Saturday night is in hospital in a critical condition, and I ask for a remand until to-morrow/’ said Detective-Sergeant Walsh al the Police Court to-day, when Kenneth Kerey, 22, single, was charged with assaulting James Maitland Webb. Mr Schramm, for accused, requested bail. “in view of Webb’s dangerous condition, I suggest that the bail be substantial,’’ said Detective-Sergeant Walsh. A remand was granted and bail was fixed at £250. Webb, a seaman, aged 19, was taken to hospital on Sunday with injuries alegedly caused in a scuffle outside the Morningside Hall. His condition today was reported by the hospital authorities Io be serious.
