SCHOOL COMMITTEE At the monthly meeting of the Mangaweka school committee accounts amounting to £26 8s Id were passed for payment. Correspondence was received from the Wanganui Education Board, re Bible-reading and devotional exercise-, from the Director-General of Health re milk in schools, from the Agricul ture Club re dates for calf-judging and root-growing competitions, Wanganui Education Board re wages of caretakers and cleaners, also enclosing a copy of the conditions set out for the use of the school for the Bible Class camp. It was proposed that the secretary circularise local dairy farmers with the idea of finding a source of supply as requested by the Director-General. The headmaster, Mr. Lewis, expressed his willingness to cany out devotional exercises and was authorised to do so.

The application for holding a Bible class camp was endorsed, the headmaster and secretary to see that conditions are complied with. The lady teacher’s offer of an afternoon at the school to raise funds for a radio was accepted with thanks. It was decided to purchase six drums of emoieum for the sealing of the basketball ground. Watkins and A. Bailey defeated Mesdames Miller and Ryan, 26—24; Mesdames L. Bailey and F. Jarrett defeated Mesdames Marsh and Casey, 26—12; Mesdames D. Watkins lost to Mesdames Miller and Ryan 26—16.
