PLAZA THEATRE

"SECOND WIFE” A sympathetic romance, featuring two of the most capable dramatic players of the screen, Gertrude Michael and Walter Abel, forms the basis of “Second Wife,” the love story of a widower who seeks to make a new home for himself and his young boy, and of a girl who accepts him in preference to a younger and wealthier suitor. This story is told in a timely and sympathetic fashion that makes the picture of unusual interest to all women. “Second Wife” will commence to-day at the Plaza Theatre. Also on the programme is “The Gay Divorcee,” with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Owing to the length of the programme the screening will commence at 7.45 p.m. "That Girl From Paris.” A highly entertaining musical comedy, “That Girl from Par’s,” heads the Easter programme at the Plaza Theatre. The outstanding soprano, Lily Pons, whose brilliant singing in “I Dream Too Much” won her such wide popularity, is responsible for another highly entertaining performance. A delightful aria from “The Barber of Seville,” the "Blue Danube Waltz” and “Tarentella” are included in her classical renderings, while among the modern numbers is “Seal It With a Kiss.” A further delightful feature of the film is the performance of Jack Oakie in a comedy role. “That Girl From Paris” commences at a midnight matinee tomorrow night.
