APPLE PIE

AN OLD FA VOLRITE WITH NEW FLAVOURS That delightful sweet—apple pie—which is a favourite with nearly all diners, can be varied in several ways. Try using orange juice for the usual cold water in your pastry recipe. You’ll be delighted with the result. Here’s another new notion* with marshmallows: Bake an apple pie in your usual manner, but omit the top crust and bake until the apples are done. Then cover the apples with 12 halved marshmallows, and then brown in a slow oven of 325 degrees. If your family is fond of coconut, follow the above procedure making the usual apple pie, but baking without an upper crust. Then pour 1 cup shredded coconut over the apples, replace in the oven and bake 5 or 6 minutes longer, or until the coconut is i ;cely browned. Next time you have a salad using the pineapple slices from a can of pineapple save the juice and pour it □ver the sugar coated apples in the apple pie filling before putting the top crust on. This gives '.he filling a most delicious and novel flavour.
