The appointment of Captain R. a. Anderson, M.C.. as adjutant at Wigram Aerodrome, was announced by the Minister of Defence yesterday.

Mr P. E. Tingey, of Wanganui, is leaving shortly to reside in Wellington. Increasing business being done by Messrs R. and E. Tingey and Co. of which he is managing-director, necessitates this change.

The appointments of Mr. J. A. Englebretsen as headmaster of the Queen's Park School and Mr. C. W. Liggins. formerly headmaster at Queen's Park, to a similar position at the Castlecliff School, were confirmed at yesterday's meeting of the Wanganui Education Board.

A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Robert Brown was passed at yesterday's monthly meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board. The chairman (Mr. W. E. Broderick) remarked that Mr. Brown, who died at Westmere recently, was at one period a member of the board. He served for several years and gave valuable service.

Mr. T. R. Wright, manager of Messrs. Wright, Stephenson' and Company’s Wanganui branch, has been appointed to open a branch for the firm in Melbourne, and he leaves to take over such duty in July or August. It is the intention of the firm to enter into the stock and station business in Australia and the new post will mean promotion for Mr. Wright, who has been a successful manager at Wanganui during the slump years not long over. He is to be succeeded by Mr. S. Sievers, manager of the Feilding branch of Messrs. Abraham and Williams. ■

The new senior inspector of schools, Mr. W. J. Boden, who was recently appointed to take the place of Mr. A. F. McMurtrie, was welcomed by the chairman, Mr. E. F. Hemingway, at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board. Mr. Hemingway said he was sure that, from what he knew of Mr. Boden, the same happy relationship which had existed between the board and previous senior inspectors would continue in the future. The Education Department generally sent its best senior inspectors to Wanganui and the previous inspectors had reached the top of the tree.
