JEWRY RETALIATES
J.X the 'eighties of the last century Germany was the strong-
hold of modern Jewry. To-day the preponderance of Jewry is in the United States of America, and it is concentrated on NewYork. The work of Herr Hitler has been such that he has invited repercussions. The first of these was the removal of the Fur Fair from Leipzig to London. There have been others, of course, but they have been chiefly of an individual nature. Now Germany is being- faced with an open organised movement to bring her into definite disfavour in the United States of America. Germany has been teaching the world to do without her; now she is giving that lesson an emotional urge which will possibly bring the German people into deep disfavour. It must be remembered, however, that Herr Hitler is not Germany, that the German people have gone through a terrible and difficult experience, both during the Great War and since. It is a consequence of such experience that the regime of Herr Hitler has come to be established, and that it can only be maintained by prohibiting the people of Germany from expressing themselves on matters which affect their individual lives and their national destiny. ]f Germany were free to-day to express her mind it is possible that the German people would repudiate Herr Hitler and all his works. In condemning those who are in power today in dermany it should always bo remembered that they cannot claim the endorsement given of a free choice from the rani; and file of the citizens of the Third Reich.
