BASKETBALL

NGA TOA CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Nga Toa Basketball Club was held on Tuesday night, Mr Francis presiding over a good attendance of enthusiastic members. The past season, stated the annual report, was a most successful one for both A and B teams, and both teams are to be congratulated upon winning the championship cups. Thanks is due to the coach who took the teams tn hand and set to work to bring them both up to standard, this being brought about by solid practice combined with enthusiasm. The teams are to be thanked upon the way tn which they turned up to practices right up to the end of the season, and it is certainly gratifying to the coach. The following players were chosen for the representative team: Misses B. Barnes, D. Bishop, J. Ching. R. Rosemergy. and to these we extend our congratulations. We are unfortunate in losing one member from the A team. Miss J. Bishop, and tender thanks for the support this player gave to the club both on and off the field. The annual social proved a great success, and it is to be hoped such socials will be taken up enthusiastically by other clubs. The finances of the club are extremely satisfactory and thanks again is tendered to the players for their co-operation. The club had every reason for gratification at the success of the season, and the fact that players from the club should be chosen as representative players speaks well for the standard of play.

The following new members were elected: Misses Kathleen Brandon. Pat Gilbert, Alice Jackson. Joyce Siddalls. The election of officers resulted:— Captain, Miss M. Watson fre-elected); vice-captain. Miss T. Crocker: secretary, Miss J. Ching (re-elected); committee, Misses M. Paul, B. Barnes. R. Rosemergy; selection committee. Miss M. Watson, Miss T. Croker. Mr Francis; coach, Mr Francis (re-elected).
