PLUNKET APPEAL
GENEROUS RESPONSE SUM OF £6OO COLLECTED. AUCKLAND, March 13. The sum of £6OO was collected as a result of the street appeal made by the Plunket Society in the city and throughout the suburbs yesterday. The amount included an anonymous donation of £5O. Excluding this large donation, however, expectations that the collection would reflect the improved economic conditions were realised, for the amount received wa: well in excess of last year’s return o: £5lO. The actual amount handed in bt street collectors last night was £598 but there were still a number >f boxes to come in, and officials of the society wore confident that the total would be over £6OO. The president of the Plunket Society, Mrs. J. C. Allan, said last night that an anonymous donation of £5 had been collected every ve.r somewhere in Remuca. This year the donation had risen to £5O. Mrs. All i.i expressed her complele satisfaction with the result of the appeal. "Tne response has been very generous,' she said
