There is speculation as to where the Duke of Windsor will reside, what Mrs. Simpson will wear, and reports'concerning the individuals with whom she dances. The police protection which has been accorded this prominent person seems to be out of ail proportion to her real significance. On the other hand, the efforts to revive the prestige of the Throne are not well conceived, in that they are too trivial to be worthy of notice. That the close-fitting hat worn by the Queen when sh.e addressed the Girl Guides is too trivial for mention, and the fact that it is mentioned does the Queen no service. How the reporter came to know that the girls were so filled with admiration would be more interesting news. Did he ask the girls what they thought of the Queen’s dress? Unfortunately the technique which is applied to boost a film star by a publicity manager is being applied without alteration to the present occupants of the Throne.
