THE AUTUMN MEE 1 ING Keen interest is being displayed by followers of the racing game in the forthcoming autumn meeting of the Stratford Racing Club, to be held on Saturday. Coming as it does just a week before the Easter racing campaign, the Stratford fixture is certain to be well patronised, and the presence of many horses that are engaged iir important Easter engagements adds to the interest.
The single-pool totalisator will be operated at the meeting, and with good fields engaged throughout there should be a very satisfactory turnover for the day. Convenient train arrangements have been made, and ovaiers and trainers with horses engaged at Ellerslie will find that they are able to proceed north by a train leaving after the races. Starting times for the meeting on Saturday are: 12.0, 12.45, 1.30, 2.15, 3.0, 3.45, 4.30, and 5.15 p.m. In the acceptances, Gaystep has B.U in the Trial Stakes, not 8.7.
EASTER DRESS REHEARSAL PAHIATUA RACES THIS WEEK ’ The Pahiatua Racing Club’s annual meeting, to be held on the club’s course at Pahiatua to-morrow and Saturday, offers an excellent dress rehearsal for the Easter meetingrs al Feilding and Wairarapa, and will provide an invaluable guide to form for the holiday fixtures. Within easy reach i of Wanganui and Manawatu districts, the meeting will have a big attraction to racegoers from these parts. A very strong class claims engagement in all events and a feature of the programme is the large number of trophy events. The Pahiatua Cup carries a £2O canteen of cutlery donated by Mr. J. L. Bennett, of Palmerston North, and a 3gns. trophy goes to the trainer of the winner. Attached to the Hamua Hack Handicap is a lOgns. afternoon tea service and a stop watch for the trainer cf the winner, while on the second day a 15guinea canteen of cutlery has been ; donated by Mr. W. K. Smith for the ; winner of the Champion Hack Handicap. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB ACCEPTANCES TO-MORROW Acceptances for the first day of the Auckland Racing Club’s autumn meeting, to be held at Ellerslie on March 27 and 29, close with the secretary, Mr. W. S.
