LONDON MARKETS FIRM After an active demand throughout the week at advancing prices, the London butter market was steady at the close, according to information supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board. Friday’s closing prices with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: New Zealand, salted, 965, 97s up to 98s (98s to 90s); unsalted, 98s (94s to 965). Australian, salted, 96s to 97s (90s); unsalted, 96s to 98s (93s to 945). Argentine, unsalted, 88s to 94s (84s to 90s). South Africa, 92s to 94s (86s to 88s). Danish, 108 s, f.0.b.; 128 s to 120 s spot (102 s 121 s to 1225). Dutch, unsalted, 975, ex 102 s (975, 101 s). Siberian, salted, 94s to 95s (88s to 90s). Ukranian, salted, 94s to 95s (88s to 90s). Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week were 2606 tons, and the quantity in store was 5242 tons, compared with 3655 tons a year ago. The retail price of New Zealand butter in London was lid to Is and that of Danish Is 2d to is 3d a lb. The cheese market was firm and active prices being as follows: New Zealand white and coloured, 58s, 595, and up to 60s' (55s to 56s)’. Deliveries, New Zealand, 19,154 crates. In store, New Zealand, 60,088 crates. Canadian white and coloured, 71s to 72s (71s to 725). Deliveries, Canadian, 3530 boxes. In store, 82,301 boxes. English, finest farmers, 86s to 88s (86s to 88s).
