A CHEERY GATHERING

TROTTING CLUB MEETING The lirst day of the Wanganui Trotting Club’s annual meeting on Saturday was delightfully sunny and allowed those present to appear in attractive ensembles. The welcome sunshine, greatly appreciated after so much bad weather, brought a large number of people to the racecourse. They had a good afternoon’s sport in pleasant surroundings, enjoyment being added to by the programme of excellent numbers played by the Garrison Band.

Costumes, coats and fur wraps were favourites. The general public, not leaving anything to chance, desired to be comfortable at all costs, should the weather change. New developments of the woven two-piece suits were noticeable and many of the new season’s hats with high crowns were worn.

Mrs. G. J. Adams, wife of the president, who presented the trophies to the winners of the Wanganui Handicap, wore a black tailored costume, ivory crepe silk blouse and black velour Hat.
