HIGHLAND PIPE BAND
PARADE AT CASTLECLIFF ’ VISIT OF AUSTRALIANS One of the leading pipe bands o# the Dominion will be heard by the touring Australian surf team during their visit to Wanganui next Monday, I as the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band ; has accepted the invitation to play for the march past at Castleclift ( beach. Returned soldiers are unanimous in their opinion that pij>e band ( music is the best for marching purposes, but the Wanganui occasion may • be voted unique, as it is understood that this will be the first occasion that the services of a pipe band have been sought for the march of the lifesavers. The band will parade at the Drill Hall at 5.30 p.m. on Monday, and will be conveyed to Castlecliff for the march past, which is set down for G p.m. Afterwards the members of the band will be entertained at tea at Gonville by the committee of the Wanganui Swimming Centre and the Surf Section. They will play in Tawa Street, Gonville, prior to the commencement of the swimming carnival to be held at the Gonville baths in honour of the Australians, and later the band members will be guests at the complimentary dance to be tendered the visitors. Although tentative arrangements have been made for the Highland Pipe Band to proceed to Hamilton and Auckland during the Easter holiday week-end, the latest information regarding the suggested holding of the Dominion pipe bands’ championship at Christchurch on Easter Saturday may bring about an alteration in plant
