THE DUTHIE CUP TRIANGULAR CONTEST WIN FOR THE HUTT CLUB An annual triangular contest between three of the oldest bowling clubs in the Dominion, Wanganui, Wellington and Lower Hutt, for the Duthie Cup, was decided on the Wanganui Club’s green yesterday, the trophy being lifted from Wanganui by Hutt after an enjoyable day’s Play.

The Duthie Cup was presented by the late Mr. John Duthie, in 1908. He had been a member of all tMree clubs at different times and when he visited the Old Country in 1907 he conceived the idea of bringing those three clubs together in friendly rivalry. To that end he purchased a handsome cup. A committee consisting of Messrs. Orton Stevens (Hutt), T. Bush (Wellington) and Louis Cohen (Wanganui) was set up to frame conditions governing competition for it. The rules they laid down brought the three clubs together on the green of the holder every February.

The visitors to yesterday’s contest were welcomed by Mr. Alex. Crawford, president of the Wanganui Club. Each club was represented by two rinks and the results of the day’s play were as follow: First Round. Guiness, Norris, Davidson, Hendry (Hutt) 33, v. Berry, Laurie, Parton, Mayer (Wellington) 15.
