DEADLY GASES

WHAT TESTS REVEAL MASKS NOT A SAFEGUARD LONDON, Feb. 8. The Daily Herald and Daily Mirror give detailed accounts of two years’ secret tests carried out by a dozen scientists in a room at the bio-chemi-cal laboratory, Cambridge, where sealed windows and chimneys revealed that deadly gases cannot be kept out. Even the wearers of gas-masKs in the room were susceptible to the influence. The Mirror quotes Professor Marrack, late University lecturer onChemical pathology at Cambridge, as saying: "I am surprised the secret tests have leaked out. Apparently gasses cannot be excluded and gas-masks are useless when worn for a long time.”
