WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MOSSTON MEETING. Mrs. Lynch presided at the February meeting of the Mosston Women’s Institute held last week, and also gave a talk on needlework, which was much appreciated, ar also were examples of her work which she had brought along to illustrate her talk. An interesting demonstration on Maori crafts was given by Mrs Marumaru, who later entertained with two elocutionary items, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mrs. Fletcher, of the Upper Hutt Institute, who has taken up residence in Wanganui, was welcomed. It was announced that the federation picnic will be held on the 25th of this month. A pleasing solo was sung by Mrs. Argent. The competitions were for a dress not costing more than ten shippings, Mrs. Haar being placed first, Mrs. Denman second and Mrs. Cameron third; also a jar of apple jelly, Miss Williams winning first place, Mrs. Haar second and Mrs. Stilborn third. Mesdames Travers, Russell and Sears were the hostesses.
