RAGWORT

Sir, —Section 3, sub-clause 4a, of the Noxious Weeds Act reads: "Every occupier of land on which ragwort is growing shall, except in any district. or in any specified portion ol a district where ragwort is declared pursuant to Section 6 hereof not to be a noxious weed, clear such land ot ragwort and keep such land so cleared.” Section 3, sub-clause 6, reads: "Every occupier who fails or neglects to enuy comply with any of the provisions uf this section commits an offence against this Act.”

From the Parapara Road just north of Upokongaro can be seen masses of ragwort in full bloom growing on i first-class land. Can you tell me, Mr. Editor, has the Department of Agriculture an inspector in Wanganui? Also, is that district a district where 'ragwort is declared not to be a noxious week. Thanking you.—l am, etc., FARMER FROM CLEAN DISTRICT.
