FOR PLUNKET SHIELD

CRICKET AT CHRISTCHURCH RAIN PREVENTS PLAY 1 Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 28. There was no play in the Plunket Shield cricket match to-day. Heavy rain fell all morning and a postponement was agreed upon till the afternoon. As the weather did not clear play could not be resumed. The downpour ceased about 4 p.m., but lighter rain came on again an hour later. Prospects are for a wet night, and Lancaster Park is in such a sodden condition that it seems at present possible there will be no play to-morrow, the last day allotted for the match.
