REGENT THEATRE

“DODSWORTH.” Based on a novel by Sinclair Lewis, and adapted for the screen by the Pulitzer prize-winner, Sydney Howard “Dodsworth,” the Samuel Goldwyn production concludes a season at the Regent Theatre to-day. Walter Huston gives a masterful performance as Dodsworth, and Ruth Chatterton as Fran, and Mary Astor as the sympathetic Mrs. Cortwright are equally outstanding. Paul Lukas and David Niven head the talented supporting cast. “My American Wife.” Francis Lederer puts in a strong claim to be considered America’? leading light comedy actor by his excellent performance in “My American Wife,” coming to-morrow to the Regent Theatre. This picture is one of high spirits and good humour in every aspect and the entirely natural acting of the players is one of its most delightful qualities. Ann Sothern in the leading feminine role makes her part essential to the enjoyment of the picture and Billie and Fred Stone appear in lesser roles. “The General Died at Dawn.” “The General Died at Dawn,” which will start on Saturday at the Regent Theatre, is the story of the fight of a Chinese war lord to steal a large sum of money, the property of those trying to free the province, which groaned under his tyranny, and to buy arms with it. Gary Cooper and Madeleine Carroll are starred.
