BOXING DAY RESULTS REFRESHER AND ROYAL SECRET [ Per Press Association. ] NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 26. The Taranaki Jockey Club’s meeting opened to-day. The weather early was showery but later improved. The track was in excellent order and there was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £20,461, against £15,163 last year, an increase of £4702. Results:— RAHOTU HURDLES HANDICAP. (Of £125; one mile and a half and 100yds) 3/3 —Beau Star, 10.0, Grindlay 1 2/2—Redolent, 10.10, Sullivan 2 4/4 —Delrain, 9.11, Mcßae : 3 Also: 6/6 Racewhip, 1/1 Rua King, ; 6/5 Don Erma, 8/7 Prince Reno, 9/9 Mowgli, 5/7 Sceptic. Half a head; half a length. Don Erma was fourth. ! I’ime, 2.53 4-5. HUATOKI PLATE. (Of £100; six furlongs.) 3/3—Prince Rangi, L. Dulieu 1 1/I—Student Prince, Clifford 2 5/s—Brioni, 8.11, Grindlay 3 Also: 4/4 Valray, 6/6 Roscrana, 2/2 Te Huia 9.0. Length and a-half each way. Roscrana was fourth. Time, 1.15 4-5. Te Huia failed to get away and took no part in the race. BOROUGH JUVENILE HANDICAP. Royal Secret won from end to end but Lady Kyra was moving up fast at the turn, where the winner went wide. The stewards held an enquiry but no action was taken.
