POOR REWARD
N.Z. LOAN COMPANY SERVICES IN DEPRESSION Received Dec. 13, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 11. Mr. Harold Brown, presiding at the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s annual meeting, said: “Conditions in Australia are fairly satisfactory, recent reductions in taxation being encouraging. “The New Zealand Government has poorly rewarded our services to the Dominion in the recent depression. Increased taxation and wages and a reduction of working hours increase our costs by £20,000 to £30,000 a year, despite efforts to economise and improve efficiency.”
