MISHAP TO MAKURA

ONE ENGINE DISABLED [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON. Nov. 27. The Union’s Company’s head office has received wireless advice from their mail steamer Makura, en route from San f'rancisco to Papeete, that a breakage has occurred in the vessel’s machinery involving the disablement of one engine. The mishap is not of a serious nature and the engineers are effecting temporary repairs. The vessel is continuing on her voyage on lhe other engine at a reduced speed in the meantime. REPAIRS EFFECTED. [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON. Nov. 27. A later message received by the Union Company from the Makura states that repairs have now been made and she is expected to arrive at Papeete on time.
