Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, November 27, 4 p.m. General Situation.--Pressure is still rather low over the New Zealand area, a depression having developed off the west coast of th North Island since Thursday night. An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity covers Eastern Australia and the western and southern port ions of the Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds: Variable at first over the northern half of the North Island, otherwise south-easterly or southerly prevailing, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in places. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough generally and a heavy southerly swell south of Castlepoint. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds and rough seas. Weather. —Still cloudy to overcast and in places misty, further rain probable in most districts with some heavy falls, more especially in North Island and north-east portion of the South. Mainly fair, however, on Ihe west coast of the South Island and later improving generally. Temperatures cold. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John's Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 1 hour 50 minutes. Rainfall, .Ilin. Shade temperature: Maximum, 72deg. Fahr.; minimum, 54deg. Fahr.
