BOXING DAY HOLIDAY
FALLS ON A SATURDAY EFFECT OF LEGISLATION [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. This year Boxing Day falls on a Sat urday and those employees who ar working under a five-day week wil not benefit from the statutory provi si-on which stipulates that Boxing Da, shall be regarded as a general holiday When statutory holidays occur on Sunday they are generally observe on the following Monday. This is th case, for example, in the conditior governing the employment of shop ac sistants, but there is no provision fo the transfer of a statutory hokda from Saturday except in the Butcher. Award, which provides that if the: half-holiday falls on a statutory hoi da < they must be given the extra hall hoi day in either the preceding or th sursequent week.
