HON. JOHN MACGREGOR j WELL-KNOWN DUNEDIN MAN i Per I’reAs Association. | DUNEDIN, Nov. 25. I The death occurred to-night of the Hon. John MacGregor, aged 86. He entered into partnership in 1878 with Peter Duncan in the well-known legal firm of Duncan and MacGregor, and the long partnership was only terminated by the death of Mr Duncan in 1927. I He was appointed to the Legislative (Council in 1892, retiring at the end lof seven years, and was again appointed to the Upper House in 1914 and was continuously a member till ( 1935. MR PRESTON CHAMBERS AUCKLAND, Nov. 25. j A former president of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, Mr Preston Chambers, of Epsom Avenue, died suddenly at Helensville at the age of 182 years. - Mr Chambers was born in 'the Hunter River district, New- South ' Wales. I While ho was on a visit to New Zealand in 1593 the late Hon. G. F. Richardson. formerly Minister of I Lands, induced him to remain in the Dominion, and for seven years he was engaged on reading the West Coast (settlement reserves. From then until | he retired in 1923 Mr Chambers continued in private practice.
