LADY JELLICOE CLUB

SEVEN TEENTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED Yesterday afternoon the members of the Lady Jellicoe Club held a delightful party to celebrate the seventeenth birthday of the club. The reception room was festively decorated with choice flowers for the occasion. On the mantelpiece were vases of irises, i and lovely roses, love-in-the-mist, and other blooms were arranged on stands and the small tables dotted about the room. The president, Mrs H. V. Hammond, welcomed the members and gave a special word of welcome to old members of the club, and said she was pleased to sec so many present, in mentioning the activities of the club Mrs Hammond expressed the opinion, that times were definitely improving. A flower competition was won by Mrs Cliff Hammond, and several songs rendered by Mrs Russell Scoular added to the enjoyment of the afternoon. The accompaniments were played by Mrs F. Spurdie. A very delightful afternoon tea was served, and the birthday cake, given by the president of the committee, was cut. and handed round to the guests. Mrs A. G. Cross, who is leaving shortly on a long holiday abroad, was the recipient of a lovely evening bag and a bouquet in pink tonings. In making the presentation, Mrs Hammond wished the departing member a pleasant voyage, and thanked her for I the great help she had always been to the club. No one but the committee knew the amount of work done by Mrs Cross. The recipient suitably replied. Among those present, were: Mesdames A. G. Cross, L. Benjamin, D. Mackintosh, L. B. Barron, P.
