Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, November 25, 4 p.m. General Situation.—A very deep cyclonic depression is centred east of Otago and is moving south-eastward. Pressure is high over the North Tasman Sea but a fresh depression is located over the Western Tasman, Forecast.—Winds: West to south-west from Nelson and Marlborough northwards, elsewhere southerly to south-westerly, strong generally and of gale to strong gale force in many places, but decreasing to-morrow. Seas (N.Z. waters): High about the central portion of the Dominion, rather rough north of East Cape, elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong south-westerly winds and rough seas but winds later veering westerly or in places north-westerly and conditions moderating. Weather—Stormy and changeable with further intermittent rain in most districts and in places hail and thunder. Some light snow on the ranges. Temperatures cool. Conditions improving gradually. The New Zealand Friends' School, St. John's Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine. 4 hours 50 minutes. Rainfall, ,32in. Shade temperature: Maximum, 64deg. Fahr.; minimum, 50deg. Fahr.
