Palais de Danse. To-night (Saturday) the city's most popular dance will be held in the Druids’ Hall, where a delightful programme of summertime dances has been arranged together with excellent music, supper, and Monte Carlos, will assure all patrons of an enjoyable evening. Lady Jellicoe Club. The president, vice-president and committee of the Lady Jellicoe Club have arranged a delightful social afternoon to celebrate the birthday of the club. A cordial welcome is given to all members and ex-members to be present at the reunion which will take place in the club rooms next
Wednesday afternoon at 2.15. Harriers’ Dance. To-night the committee of the Wanganui Harrier Club are holding another of their popular dances in the‘Peter Pan Hall. The progrimme includes Monte Carlos, lucky spot fox-trots, lucky partners, and plenty of novelties of all kinds. Wanganui’s leading dance band, the Soprani Serenaders, have been engaged to supply the music, and a number of new popular tunes will be heard. Your Christn as Cards. Now that Christmas looms so near, people are giving thought to the many friends thej- must remember with a card of greeting. A set of cards with attractively printed message of greeting, also your name and adicess, aie much better than buying a few et a time. Christmas greeting cards can be obtained at the “Chronicle" office. You may have them done in black, blue or gold lettering. Samples are on view at the main office also the branch office in Victoria Avenue, where further particulars re orders may. be obtained. Victoria League. Miss Gertrude Drayton, general secretary of the Victoria League in London, who is visiting New Zealand, will arrive in Wanganui next Wednesday and will be the guest of Mrs N. R. Bain (president of the Wanganui branch of the Victoria League). During her stay in the city Miss Drayton wili be entertained by the council of the league, and will be the guest ‘of honour at a garden party on Friday given by Mrs Hatrick, senr., at her home on St. John’s Hill, for members of the Victoria League. Members are reminded to send in I their gifts for sending to the Leper Island.
