CHILLED BEEF

DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP I COMMENTS OF THE JUDGES BIG IMPKOYEMEN T SHOWN Judging of the chilled beef championship at the 1936 Wanganui Agricultural Show has awakened still keener interest among farmers to cater for this promising trade on the I British market. “The class of 63 bullock entered for J the chilled beef championship which 1 i had the honour to judge, was, 1 feel | sure, about the largest and linest quality show of beef ever shown in the Dominion,” said the judge on the hoof, Mr. S. S. Timbs. “I have judged this competition on two previous occasions and the progress in quality and the desired and size is truly remarkable. To-day’s exhibits, it groomed, handled and led, would create a sensation in any fat stock show J in Great Britain as an exhibit of grazing commercial cattle. They are a great credit to all concerned. I hope Ihe day is not far distant when a little trouble will be taken to break in, lead and handle such wonderful samples as were exhibited.” The judge of the carcases on the honks at Imlay, Mr. E. Hansen, the Meat. Producers’ Boards’ inspector, had the lodowing comments to make regarding the placed entries:— First Prize Pen No. 42: Messrs. ,T. Wyley and Sons.
