FOREIGN INVESTMENTS

HUGE TOTAL IN AMERICA Received Nov. 9, 1.15 a.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 8. The Times, New York, says that the rush of foreign capital into the American security markets after the Roosevelt triumph has called attention to the fact that foreigners’ investments here are probably the largest since the World War. It is estimated that foreigners’ long-term investments are 5,700,000,000 dollars, and short-term balances 1,300,000,000 dollars, totalling 7,000,000,000 dollars. Economists and bankers believe that the American markets are more vulnerable to a European capital withdrawal than at any time since the outbreak of the war in 1914, when foreign liquidations caused a suspension of exchange operations. However, most indications point to a continued influx.
