WANGANUI SPORTS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The seventh annual meeting of the Wanganui Sports Motor-Cycling Club was held on Tuesday, when the following officers were elected for the ensuing season:—President, Mr. G. Jones: vice-president, Mr. P. Coleman; club captain, Mr. C. Seccord; vice-captain, Mr. A. Wood; secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. Roberts; assistant treasurer, Mr. R. Mansell; publicity agent. Mr. C. Perrett; committee, Messrs. D. Lawrence, B. Lawrence, C.“Glenny, R. Cawstow, W. Pritchard, C. Davis. The first event of the season was set down as a speed climb, open and handicap, to be held at Thorbin’s Hill, Putiki, on November 15, at 9.30 p.m. Mechanised Unit. Of particular interest to club members and other motor cyclists are the following particulars relating to the newly formed mechanised unit of the voluntary territorial defence unit. In-
| tending participants should apply immediately for enlistment forms to Mr. G. Jones, c/o Harmans, Ltd. First B.N. the Wellington West Coast Regiment, Motor Cycle Platoon:Provinsional establishment: Officers I. sergeants 1, corporals 4. other ranks 26, total off. 1, or .31. Terms of service as for other units, attend and sign for three years. Minimum training out-of-camp 36 hours, evening and daylight camp 6 days. Weapon training course to be fired out of camp training. Pay at present out-of-camp pte., fl 4s, corp., fl 6s, sergt., fl 10s. Camp six days at 4s. 4s 6d and 5s respectively. Uniform and boots issued with special headgear—black beret. Department accepts liability for accidents and damage on duty. Petrol 1 and oil allowance up to maximum of 18 gallons petrol and 1 galion ot oii per annum per cycle. Issued on basis of 40 miles per gallon petrol and 360 miles per quart of oil. Required: Enlistment forms to be filled in and also particulars of make of motor cycle. It is important that the motor-cycles should be of suitable and popular type. Sergt. Jones to report on suitability of motor cycle in each case. Also possibility of recruiting other platoons.
