JOE EZAR IN ENGLAND

THE BANANA GOLFER Joe Ezar, the banana-golfer ot Texas, is the best trick shot merchant, on earth, declared a London golf critic, comftienting on the recent British professional championship in which Ezar competed unsuccessfully. It is hard to take Joe seriously, for when he isn’t throwing somersaults he is helping the carpet trade by skimming them with a mashie; but a number of English women will be relieved to hear that he has definitely made up his mind to refrain from addressing them as “sweetheart" when they act for him as markers. When Joe was selling bananas in Texas his habits of address and his general conduct were inclined to be democratic. He felt strained when he first came to Britain, and discovered that a loud “Hoy, you!” or “Whereinellsmyputter" were slightly misunderstood. Of late he has been cultivating an Oxford accent, but whether that completely accounts for the splendid golf he has been uncovering is matter for debate. Those who suppose that Joe is merely a natural-born comedian should recollect that cards ot 68 and 69 are becoming commonplace with him.
