MANY NEW “CRIMES”

GERMAN PENAL CODE ATTITUDE TO HISTORY BERLIN, Nov. 5. Many new “crimes” are included in the penal code, on which Nazi experts have worked for three years and which is now published. They include hard labour for publicly ridiculing marriage and motherhood, inciting birth control, assaults against German honour, especially severe punishment for verbal attacks on Herr Hitler. Publication of offensive matter dug up from history will be punished regardless of whether it is true or false. Further crimes are disparagement of heroism in the German army and “venerable men and women in German history,” such as Hindenburg and Horstwessel; the malicious creation of a shortage of vital commodities, incitement of strikes and lockouts and incitement to suicide.
