DISTINGUISHED VISITOR
MARQUESS OF lI2RTINGTON DOMINIONS SECRE T A R Y I [ Ter Press Association ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. A distinguished arrival by the Awatea from Sydney this morning was the Marquess of Hartington, M.8.E., M.P., Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs, who accompanied by the Marchioness of Hartington, is visiting New Zealand for a brief holiday. During their stay in Wellington, Lord and Lady Hartington will be the guests of Their Excellencies, the Governor-General and Lady Galway, at Government House. Their stay in New Zealand will last eleven days, and during that period they hope to sec as much of the country as possible. It is their first visit to the Dominion. Lord Hartington explained that no special significance attached to his visit to New Zealand, and he was not concerned with any special mission on behalf of the British Government. He expected that he would participate in more or less informal discussions with the Government about the State affairs. He was keenly interested in the wool market: and remarked that the increased prices now ruling for this commodity would be of considerable benefit to New Zealand, just as they would be in Australia. He thought that the stabilisation of currencies would have a desirable effect. He would not comment, on political matters, hut remarked that the development of the Labour Government’s policy was being followed with the closest interest at Home
